Established in 1975, The Freeport Art Museum exhibits art from personal collections and regional traveling artists. This museum is a non-profit that works to ensure the future of the arts and art education in the community. With that being said, admission is completely donation based. Freeport Art relies on fundraising events and individual donations to support its operations. The suggested donation is $3 per person or $10 per family. Although these donations are not mandatory, donations ensure that this museum will remain an outlet for local artists.

2. Freeport Park District

The Freeport Park District holds an aquatic center, golf course, nature preserve, carousel, museum, and state park. In the district, you can find various adult athletics, aquatics, martial arts, and arts programs. Overall, there are a total of nine parks here to explore. 3. Children’s Hands-on Museum of Northwest Illinois

This colorful museum aims to inspire children and families to learn through interactive experiences. Subjects you can find at this exhibit include agricultural sciences, social sciences, medicine, and music. Your child can play on a farm, run a restaurant, act on stage, and perform surgery all on the same day.

The museum is only open Thursdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Daily admission costs $6 per person. To encourage people of all backgrounds to visit the museum, this place has partnered with Museums for All to provide discounted admission fees to eligible members who receive SNAP benefits.
